British Citizens who want to get married in Italy need to provide specific documents showing that there are no legal impediments to the marriage. The procedure is quite easy and can be done via correspondence. We will anyway follow you step by step. Paperwork requirements for UK Citizens getting married in Italy. To be obtained in UK: You both need to publish the BANNS at your local registry office and after 21 days your CERTIFICATE OF NO IMPEDIMENT will be released. To get the Certificate of No Impediment the following documents are necessary: LONG BIRTH CERTIFICATE (showing both parents’ names) VALID BRITISH PASSPORT DIVORCE DECREE ABSOLUTE or DEATH CERTIFICATE if applicable PREVIOUS MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE if applicable DEED POLL (in case of change of name) To be obtained in ITALY: The Certificate of No Impediment has to be sent via express courier directly by you together with all the above mentioned documents to the appropriate Embassy or Consular office in Italy to get the final Nulla Osta. Please kindly include a letter with all the information regarding name of the Wedding Hall, date of marriage and our contacting numbers. Please do not send the original passports, only copies. The Consulate will release the final NULLA OSTA and will send it directly to the Wedding Hall or one of our coordinators will pick it up. Sometimes a Declaration is requested by the Wedding Hall 1 or 2 days prior the wedding. Fees for issuing the Nulla Osta: cost is Euro 92 per person + an extra cost for postal and bank charges which varies from Consulate to Consulate (we will give you the exact information). The UK Consulates require a bank draft in Euro to be mailed along with the documents in order to process the paperwork. The bank draft must be drawn from an Italian bank with no expenses. The procedure may slightly vary depending on the Consulate so please check with your Wedding Planner before proceeding. Important: under Italian law a female who has been divorced and wishes to re-marry in Italy, cannot re-marry until 300 days have passed from the date of her divorce.
